About
Formerly St Michaels vineyard, Pook Road dates back to 1995 when it was planned and planted by Mick Cann.
In 2017 Mick began the transition from full-time winemaker, mentoring aspiring vignerons Guy Kidney and Charlotte James in the art of Heathcote wine making.
The couple experienced their first vintage in 2018 and have since 'survived' vintages 2019, 2020 and 2021 (yes, we have stories)!
Varietals
While predominantly planted with Shiraz vines, Pook Road also grows Petit Verdot, Cabernet, Merlot and a small quantity of 'accidental' Sémillon and Viognier.
Winemaking
All the wine we produce comes from our vineyard at Pook Road in Toolleen. We hand and machine-pick our grapes in the cool hours, and use open vat fermentation and oak barrel maturation to produce small-batch, boutique wines.
